VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – In its final tune-up for the 2026 MEAC Indoor Championships, North Carolina Central's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Pre-National Indoor Meet. The event was hosted by Norfolk State at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Feb. 13-14.

Two victories highlighted the meet for the Eagles as Rachel Key-White and the women's distance medley relay team placed first.

Key-White set a new personal record in the women's high jump event. She cleared 1.72m, tying for first with Hampton's Emmani Shaw as both jumpers had successful second attempts. Neither were able to clear 1.77m.

The distance runners had four top three finishes, which included a victory in the women's 4000m distance medley. Laila Jackson, Kayla Johnson, Victoria Swepson and Navi McDowell ran an impressive time of 12:31.24, which was a new meet record and currently second on the MEAC's performance list.

The Eagles now have a week until the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, taking place on Feb. 22-23 at the same venue in Virginia Beach. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
