NORFOLK, Va. — The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), in consultation with the Softball Championship Games Committee and Perry Weather Service, has been closely monitoring the incoming weather front expected to impact tournament play on Thursday, May 7.
In the interest of the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, fans, coaches, officials, and event personnel, the decision has been made to adjust the Day Two tournament schedule.
Thursday’s Day Two opening contest between the No. 4 seed Norfolk State Spartans and No. 2 seed Delaware State, an elimination game originally scheduled for 11:00 a.m., has been moved to 6:30 p.m. The matchup between No. 6 Coppin State and No. 5 Morgan State is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start, weather permitting.
The remainder of the tournament schedule is expected to resume on Friday morning, May 8.
Updated game times and all tournament schedule information will be announced and posted on MEACSports.com and across all official MEAC communication platforms as information becomes available.
The MEAC Softball Championship Games Committee will continue to actively monitor weather conditions throughout the tournament and will make additional schedule adjustments if necessary to ensure the safest possible environment for all participants and attendees.
