MEAC Postpones Thursday Softball Tournament Games Due to Weather

Norfolk, VA-- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), in consultation with the Softball Championship Games Committee and Perry Weather Service, has continued to monitor the current weather front that has impacted tournament play on Thursday, May 7. 

In the interest of the safety and well-being of student-athletes, fans, coaches, officials, and event personnel, the decision has been made to postpone all Day Two contests originally scheduled for Thursday to Friday, May 8. 

Friday’s revised schedule is as follows: 

  • Game 5: No. 4 Norfolk State vs. No. 2 Delaware State — 11:00 a.m.  

  • Game 6: No. 6 Coppin State vs. No. 5 Morgan State — 3:00 p.m.  

  • Game 7: No. 1 Howard vs. No. 3 South Carolina State — 6:00 p.m.  

Saturday’s schedule will feature: 

  • Game 8: Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 6 — 11:00 a.m.  

  • Game 9: Winner of Game 8 vs. Loser of Game 7 — 2:00 p.m.  

The MEAC Softball Championship game is now scheduled for Sunday, May 10, at 12:00 p.m. If necessary, a second championship game will be played at 3:00 p.m. 

The MEAC Softball Championship Games Committee will continue to actively monitor weather conditions throughout the tournament and make additional schedule adjustments if necessary to ensure the safest possible environment for all participants and attendees.
