RALEIGH, N.C. (May 1, 2026)--Morgan State's 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship first round match-up against host, the eighth-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack finally got underway on Friday night at the Dail Outdoor Stadium at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center, following a two-hour and 49-minute rain delay.
 
Making their first trip back to the NCAA Tournament since 2018, the Lady Bears put up a valiant effort, before falling to the Wolfpack, 5-0 on a cold a wet night. 
 
North Carolina State (23-7) claimed the doubles point winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Lauryn Hall and Marta Serra Carles lost to #3 Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. N.C. State then secured the opening point when Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie defeated Morgan State's tandem of Damla Arslan and Tyler Williams in a No. 3 contest to take the 1-0 lead.
 
Morgan State (15-7) fell behind 2-0 when Tyler Williams' season- and team-long 13-match winning streak came to an end. The sophomore from Baltimore had a phenomenal season, but would fall to the Wolfpack's #66 Lavinia Tanasie 6-3, 6-2 to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
 
On Court 6, Jasmine Conway defeated Roua Limem in a No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-3 to extend the Wolfpack's advantage to 3-0.
 
#49 Broadfoot defeated Marta Serra Carles in a No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-2 to secure the victory, while #46 Zyryanova defeated Julia Jeffrey seconds later in a No. 2 contest 6-2, 6-3 to make it 5-0.
 
The Wolfpack advanced to the second round for the seventh consecutive season. N.C. State will face #20 UCF on Saturday for a spot in the Sweet 16, while Morgan State's season comes to a close.
