MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Tennis Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 21, 2026 – Morgan State sophomore Tyler Williams was named the MEAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.  Delaware State freshman Maite Bou Safont earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors. 

Williams (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) went 2–0 on the week to help Morgan State close out the regular season as MEAC co-champions and secure the No. 1 seed following a 5–2 victory over Howard. She posted a No. 3 doubles win with Damla Arslan (6–0) and a straight-sets No. 5 singles victory over Howard’s Dana Hall, 6–4, 6–3, finishing the regular season 11–1 in singles play. 
 
Bou Safont (Fr., Castellon, Spain.)  went 1–1 at No. 6 singles this week, dropping a tight three-set match to Mount St. Mary’s Ramisetty 6–2, 3–6, 7–10 before following with a 7–6, 6–1 win over George Washington’s Katya Balin. 

Other Top Performers 

  • Damla Arslan (MSU) secured a 6–0 victory at No. 3 doubles alongside Tyler Williams for Morgan State. 

  • Lucia Casas Blas (DSU) earned a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles over George Washington’s Victoria Sasinka. 

  • Selah Stibbins (HOW) went undefeated across two matches, earning a straight-sets singles win over Morgan State’s Damla Arslan and adding a doubles victory alongside Camille Hall at Johns Hopkins.
