BALTIMORE, Md. (April 27, 2026)--The Morgan State Lady Bears, champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will head to Raleigh, N.C. to take on Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion and overall No. 8 seed, North Carolina State in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Team Championship.
First and second-round action will take place on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh. The Wolfpack, who were awarded as a host school for one of 16 on-campus regional sites, will also welcome UCF and the Naval Academy (Navy).
This marks the 10
th consecutive season NC State women's tennis will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament and the program's 16
th NCAA appearance.
Morgan State (15-7, 5-1 MEAC) and NC State (22-7, 10-2 ACC) will square off at 5 p.m. on Friday. That match will follow the first-round meeting between UCF and Navy at 2 p.m. The two first-round winners will meet Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m., for the right to advance to the Sweet 16. The NCAA Championships, including the Elite Eight through the national title match, will take place May 14-17 at Dan Magill Tennis Complex, hosted by University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
The Lady Bears celebrated their third MEAC title in program history and first since 2018 this past Saturday. Top-seeded Morgan State would defeat fellow MEAC regular season co-champion and No. 2 seed, Norfolk State in thrilling fashion, 4-3 in the title match held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. With the match tied at 3-3, Morgan State junior Amir Bargaoui playing at No. 3 singles, battled back from a 5-1 deficit to win six consecutive games to win 7-5 and give the Lady Bears the victory.
Bargaoui, who was an All-MEAC First Team selection, would earn the tournament's Outstanding Performer award, while head coach
Matthew Townes was named tournament's Outstanding Coach. The Lady Bears placed five on the MEAC All-Tournament Team (No. 1 singles-
Michaela Stephens No. 3 singles-
Amira Bargaoui, No. 5 singles-
Tyler Williams and No. 6 singles-
Lauryn Hall. Julia Jeffrey and Stephens would earn all-tournament team honors at No. 2 doubles.
A day later, North Carolina State won the ACC Championship title with a 4-0 win over Virginia on Sunday. The Wolfpack enter the tournament aiming for their seventh straight Sweet 16 appearance and its first trip to championship weekend since 2023.
Admission is free, and fans are encouraged to park in the West Parking Deck.
