NEW CASTLE, Del. (Jan. 18, 2026)--The Morgan State bowling team returned from the holiday break with a trip north to take part in the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart at Bowlerama.
The Lady Bears would finish the three-day tournament with a 5-8 mark over the weekend to place 25th out of a field of 36 teams, which featured 14 teams ranked in the top 25.
On Friday, Morgan State opened up Baker play with a loss to Vanderbilt (909-968), before defeating Holy Family (1,046-762) and falling to Arkansas State (844-1,039) to complete the first half of Day 1 competition. The Lady Bears then wrapped up the day defeating Wilmington (950-732), before losing to Wright State (834-885) to go 2-3 on opening day.
Traditional team play started on Saturday and Morgan State would go just 1-4 on the day. The Lady Bears dropped their first three decisions to Central Missouri (751-941), McKendree (827-893) and Wichita State (880-984). Morgan then defeated Daemen (875-779), before ending the day falling to host Sacred Heart (1,030-1,134).
Morgan State then entered Sunday's best-of-seven bracket matches with a 3-7 mark and would go 2-1 on the day to finish 5-8 for the weekend. The Lady Bears began with a 4-3 victory over William Smith, then lost to fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Maryland Eastern Shore, 4-2. Morgan State advanced to face William Smith for a second time in bracket play and would win 4-1 to place 25
th.
Johnna Hill paced the Lady Bears with a total of 1,023 pins to place 34
th overall. Hill, who averaged 204.60 pins per match, recorded a high game of 238 against Wilmington.
