SPARTANBURG, S.C. – North Carolina Central played USC Upstate close for two sets before falling 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 19-25) in a non-conference volleyball match at G.B. Hodge Center on Tuesday.
The score was tied 23-23 in the first and second sets but USC Upstate scored the last two points both times for a 2-0 lead. The Eagles are now 2-6 overall while USC Upstate is 5-3.
NOTES
- The Eagles played their fourth consecutive away match.
- Kamren Harper led the Eagles with 11 kills while Makenzi Searcy and Leanna Beaty each chipped in seven kills.
- Manuela Cripa Nasser totaled 27 assists and 15 digs, both team highs, and Loren Johnson collected 14 digs.
- Gabriela Felix-Baeza had 12 digs and Beaty added two service aces and two blocks.
- Jenelle Mason and Allyson Rouse also finished with two blocks.
- The Eagles led 14-9 before falling behind 21-17 in the first set. They rallied to take a 22-21 lead.
- NCCU was ahead 17-13 in the second set.

The Eagles are back in action next week when they visit UNC Asheville on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. The match will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
