NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 10, 2025-- Howard junior Yahnari Lyons was selected as Women's Track Athlete of the Week while
Bison teammate Temi Banwo earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Lyons (Jr., Hampton, Ga) won the 200-meter dash at the HBCU & Ivy Challenge, clocking a MEAC-best time of 24.11, which currently ranks 11th nationally.
Banwo (Sr., Allen, Texas) placed fourth in the shot put with a MEAC-best mark of 13.88m and earned bronze in the weight throw with another conference-leading toss of 16.92m at the HBCU & Ivy Challenge.
Other Top Performers
- Yowome Ayim (NSU) placed sixth in the long jump 5.71m at the Clemson Opener.
- Payton Drumwright (NSU) placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.91 at the Clemson Opener.
- Tia Lucas (NCCU) placed second in the women’s high jump with a MEAC-leading mark of 1.74m at the JDL Fast Track meet.
- Laila Jackson (NCCU) won the women’s 800m at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off, posting a time of 2:13.73 to take first place.
- Lyee Simms (UMES) won the high jump with a new personal-best mark of 1.68m.
- Sanaa Virgil (DSU) won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump to open her season.
- Jayla-Shae Wright (MSU) finished fifth in the pentathlon in her collegiate debut totaling 3,155 points.
