NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 4, 2026 – Howard junior Yahnari Lyons was named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore graduate student Faithlyn Irving earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. 

Lyons (Jr., Hampton, Ga.) finished fourth overall in the 200 meters with a MEAC-best time of 23.43, a mark that ranks 24th nationally. 

Irving (Gs., Spanish Town, Jamaica) Captured her third triple jump victory of the indoor season while setting a new school record with a leap of 12.97 meters, a mark that ranks first in the MEAC and 25th nationally. 

Other Top Performers 

• Gifty Oku (CSU) posted times of 24.75 in the 200 meters and clocked in at 57.31 in the 400 meters while also contributing to a 3:58.82 finish in the 4x400-meter relay. 
• Shennell Simms (UMES) recorded a personal-best time of 2:17.56 in the 800 meters at the Boston University Classic.
