MEAC Announces Weekly Football Honors - SCSU’s Atkins and DSU’s Favors III Earn Top Awards

NORFOLK, Va.  – South Carolina State quarterback William Atkins IV has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. Delaware State’s Wayne Favors III was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, while S.C. State’s James Reddick II earned Offensive Lineman of the Week. Morgan State’s Raymond Moore III was named Rookie of the Week, and S.C. State kicker Nico Cavanillas Alti earned specialist accolades.

William Atkins IV (QB, 6-1, 215, Grad., Baltimore, Md.) completed 24-of-36 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Bulldogs to a 34-27 win over N.C. Central. He recorded a long pass of 51 yards and helped guide S.C. State to its sixth straight win.

Wayne Favors III (DB, r-Jr., 5-11, 181, Miami, Fla.) recorded a 91-yard interception return for a touchdown in a win over Howard. He added three tackles, two solo, and one pass breakup in the victory.

James Reddick II (OL, 6-2, 307, Grad.) anchored the Bulldogs offensive line that produced 454 yards of total offense in the win over N.C. Central. He graded out at 91 percent with seven pancake blocks, no penalties, and no sacks allowed.

Raymond Moore III (QB, r-Fr., 6-4, 180, Baltimore, Md.) completed 16-of-22 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Norfolk State. He also rushed 10 times for seven yards and added a rushing touchdown, securing Morgan State’s first conference victory of the season.

Nico Cavanillas Alti (K, Sr., 6-0, 190, Madrid, Spain) converted his second 50-yard field goal of the season, longest in the conference this season, in the Bulldogs’ 34-27 win over N.C. Central. He also connected on a 28-yard attempt and went a perfect 4-for-4 on PATs. Alti recorded six kickoffs for 375 yards, averaging 62.5 yards per kick with one touchback. He accounted for 10 points in the victory.

  • Ka’Von Chisolm (S.C. State) registered five tackles, including three tackles for loss totaling 11 yards, one sack, and two hurries in the win over N.C. Central.
  • Andre Cooper II (Howard) posted a season-best 117 receiving yards on four receptions, including a 60-yard touchdown against Delaware State.
  • Matt Conord (Howard) went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts (28 and 32 yards) against Delaware State.
  • Antonio Hunter (Howard) finished with a season-best eight receptions for 81 yards against Delaware State.
  • Erick Hunter (Morgan State) returned a blocked field goal 90 yards for a special team’s touchdown in Morgan State’s 35-28 win over Norfolk State.
  • Kevon King (Norfolk State) rushed for 189 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown against Morgan State.
  • Judah McJimpsey (Howard) recorded a team-high seven tackles, including two tackles for loss totaling seven yards, and forced a fumble against Delaware State.
  • Terique Miles (Norfolk State) tallied 11 tackles, including three solo stops, and one pass breakup against Morgan State.
  • Marco Peery (Norfolk State) logged five kickoffs for 292 yards, one touchback, and converted two PAT attempts against Morgan State.
