Cross Country Competes at the Annual Paul Short Run

Several Bison run season-best in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 3, 2025) – Howard University cross country program competed in the annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University, where several Bison posted season best.
 
On the men's side, rookie Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) led the charge with a 25:34.50 mark (season-best) in the 8K race. All-MEAC selection sophomore William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) also ran a season-best (25:56.70) in the same event.
 
DMV native and second-year Bison Paul Robinson (Bowie, Md.) rounded out the men, clocking in at 27:00.80 (season-best).
 
For the women, sophomore Mira Martin (Columbus, Ohio) fell just short of breaking the school's 6K record, registering a 21:40.30 time.
 
Freshman standout Alexis Jones (New Windsor, N.Y.) notched a 22:08.00 mark in the same race.
 
Georgetown (GU) won the men's title while Villanova took home the women's crown.
 
Harvard's Sam Burgess claimed the men's individual champion while GU's Melissa Riggins grabbed the women's individual title.
 
On Oct. 18, Howard hosts the Bison Invite, located at Kenilworth Park in D.C. The 5K race starts at 10 a.m.
