BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 2, 2025) – Howard University men's and women's cross country program returns to action Friday (Oct. 3) when they compete at the annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. The men's race starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10:15 a.m.
MEET PREVIEW
This 51
st Paul Short Run is one of the largest in the country. This year, more than 7,000 total athletes will compete, representing over 600 different high schools and colleges. Six high school races will be run Thursday (Oct. 2) while eight college races will occur the following day.

Alexis Jones (New Windsor, N.Y.) has been leading the women's squad, along with fellow classmate
Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.), who has been guiding the men in both races this season.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 12, both squads competed in the Virginia Invitational, hosted by the Cavaliers.
The women finished in eighth place with Jones leading the way, earning an 18:36.50 mark (44
th overall).
The men finished in ninth place with Shakur placing 59
th overall in the race (26:13.90).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 18, Howard hosts the Bison Invite, located at Kenilworth Park in D.C. The 5K race starts at 10 a.m.
