DOVER, DE --Kristin White was dominant on Saturday, fanning eight Morgan State hitters over five innings of work to help propel the Delaware State Hornets over the Bears 6-4.
In addition to her eight strikeouts, White went five innings, giving up one run on two hits and walking six for Delaware State (13-16). Kaylanie Rodriguez also made an impact in the circle for the Hornets, starting the ballgame and throwing 1.2 shutout innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Delaware State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Mi'Shon King.
The Bears failed to push any runs across before the Hornets offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Delaware State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Rodriguez, which brought the Hornets lead to 5-0.
Morgan State narrowed Delaware State's lead to 5-1 before the Hornets stretched the advantage to 6-1 in the fifth inning. Morgan State put three runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Delaware State still held on for the 6-4 win.
