WASHINGTON (April 2, 2026) – The Howard University softball team faces North Carolina Central (NCCU) in a three-game series in Cary, North Carolina. The series begins Friday (April 3) with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning game on Saturday (April 4) at noon.

HOWARD
 
HU (15-13, 8-1 MEAC) looks to maintain momentum after a sweeping South Carolina State (March 28-29).
 
On March 30, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its softball weekly awards where Howard junior catcher Makyia Taylor (Temecula, Calif.) earned the league's Player of the Week honor. Taylor led the Bison in a three-game sweep, batting .444 with eight RBIs, four runs scored, two home runs, and a double, while posting a 1.768 OPS.
 
She currently leads the MEAC with 2.7 RBIs per game, ranking seventh nationally.
 
NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
 
NCCU (7-26, 5-4 MEAC) split a doubleheader against Norfolk State (March 28), winning Game 1, 3-2, before falling in Game 2, 7-6. The next day, North Carolina Central dropped the series finale, 2-0.
 
Izabella Chavez leads the Eagles with a .328 batting average.

Howard claimed its third straight MEAC series with a three-game sweep over South Carolina State in D.C.
 
The Bison opened with a 6-0 shutout behind sophomore pitcher Aiko Conaway (Haymarket, Va.), who tossed a complete-game three-hitter with six strikeouts, followed with a 14-5 victory in the nightcap.
 
The sweep was capped with an 8-3 win, highlighted by a seven-run third inning. Howard's pitching staff combined to limit South Carolina State to five hits while striking out nine in the finale.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On April 11-12, Howard continues MEAC play with a three-game series at Morgan State in Baltimore. The series begins Saturday (April 11) with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a single game Sunday (April 12) at noon.
