The Delaware State men's and women's track and field teams delivered a strong overall performance at the Raleigh Relays, highlighted by record-breaking marks, conference leaders, and top regional rankings.
On the men's side, Christopher Johnson paced the field events with a 16th-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 16.18m that currently ranks No. 1 in the MEAC. Ian Cain delivered one of the top track performances of the meet, running 1:51.25 in the 800m to place 26th overall while moving into the No. 2 spot in Delaware State history.
Marian Drazan also turned in a standout performance in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 21st with a time of 8:50.73. Her time now leads the MEAC and ranks No. 14 in the NCAA East Region.
The Hornets also showed strength in the 400m hurdles, led by Alonzo Sims Jr, who placed 17th in 53.83, followed by Tori Willis in 20th with a time of 54.35. Delaware State closed out the meet with a 16th-place finish in the 4x400m relay, as Jenerette, Sims, Willis, and Phillips combined for a time of 3:15.88.
