RALEIGH, N.C. – In its second outdoor meet of the season, North Carolina Central's men's and women's track and field teams recorded seven top-20 finishes at Raleigh Relays, held March 26-28 at the Paul Derr Track.
NC Central's top performance came in the final event of the meet, as Isaac Fitzpatrick, Isaiah Fitzpatrick, Zion Amadi and Dwan Bell posted a time of 3:13.09 in the men's 4x400 relay on Saturday evening. The mark earned the Eagles a ninth-place finish, their highest of the weekend.
Amadi also secured an individual top-20 finish in the men's 400 meters, placing 15th with a time of 47.20. Theodore Skinner added a 19th-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing 1.96 meters.
On the women's side, Melanne Sutton led the way with a 12th-place finish in the 100 meters (11.68) and a 19th-place showing in the 200 meters (24.32). Tia Lucas cleared 1.67 meters in the high jump to place 13th.
The Eagles also recorded a 12th-place finish in the women's 4x400 relay, as T'Sheylah Moore, Gianna Marquez, Kayla Johnson and Nyree Bacchus crossed the line in 3:47.05.
NCCU will be back on the track next week at High Point for the VertKlasse Meeting on April 2-3.
