Morgan State Men’s Track & Field Delivers Solid Showing at Sykes & Sabock

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 7, 2026) — The Morgan State men's track & field team continued its indoor season Saturday at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge, hosted by Penn State University.

Morgan posted several strong performances across both track and field events, highlighted by individual personal bests and a relay victory.

"Today's meet showed that we can be a force in the MEAC despite the day-to-day challenges we face," said head coach Neville Hodge. "We're looking to carry this momentum into the Indoor MEAC Championships. Go Bears."

Sykes & Sabock Challenge | Results

Sophomore Doyin Smith led the way on the track, placing sixth in the 60 meters with a personal-best 6.83 in the final after qualifying at 6.87. Smith also finished fourth in the 200 meters with another personal best of 21.79.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay team of Maxim Copeland, Myles Dorsey, Smith, and Antonio Sims captured first place with a season-best time of 3:16.16.



Sophomore KeSean-Jordan Rhooms placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.15m and also finished 10th in the high jump at 1.86m. Junior Isaac Rankin tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.91m.

In the long jump, junior Jadon Ra-Akbar placed 15th with a leap of 6.38m, while freshmen Nicardo Grey-Clarke and Noah Hopes finished 17th and 18th with marks of 6.36m and 6.30m.
Freshman Demond Smith placed 13th in the weight throw (16.03m) and 19th in the shot put (14.10m).

Field Events:

Long Jump
Jadon Ra-Akbar cleared 6.38m to place 15th. Freshmen Nicardo Grey-Clarke and Noah Hopes finished 17th and 18th, respectively, with marks of 6.36m and 6.30m.

Weight Throw
Freshman Demond Smith finished 13th in the weight throw, registering a mark of 16.03m.

Shot Put
Freshman Demond Smith finished 19th with a throw of 14.10m. 

Triple Jump
Sophomore KeSean-Jordan Rhooms cleared 14.15m on his fourth attempt to finish in 4th place. Freshman David Douglas had a mark of 13.00 (8th).

High Jump
Junior Isaac Rankin finished tied for seventh with a leap of 1.91m, while KeSean-Jordan Rhooms and Jacob Denny placed 10th with a mark of 1.86 m.

Track Events:

60H
Junior Jadon Ra-Akbar clocked in at 8.38 in heat four of the first round to qualify for the finals where he finished 8th with a time of 8.43.

60m
Sophomore Doyin Smith qualified for the finals with a 6.87 and placed sixth after clocking a personal best 6.83 in the final.

400m
Sophomore Maxim Copeland recorded a 10th-place finish with a time of 48.94. Freshman Myles Dorsey added a time of 49.81 (15th).

600m
Freshman Cameron Stuckless crossed the line with a time of 1:23.31 to place sixth.

800m
Caleb Mincey clocked a season-best time of 1:50.82 (8th) and sophomore Sam Skinner placed 10th with a time of 1:52.61.

200m
Sophomore Doyin Smith turned in a strong performance with a fourth-place finish in a personal best 21.79, while senior Antonio Sims ended up taking 12th place in 22.06.

Mile
Miguel Graham finished with a time of 4:48.59.

4x400m
The quartet consisting of Maxim Copeland, Myles Dorsey, Doyin Smith, and Antonio Sims crossed the tape in first place with a season-best time of 3:16.16. Morgan State's B team (Seth Minter, Cameron Stuckless, Caleb Mincey, Christian Raysor) placed fourth with a time of 3:19.56.
