MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 4, 2026—Maryland Eastern Shore junior Banele Mkabela was selected as Men's Track Athlete of the Week while Howard sophomore Drew Dillard earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.        

Mkabela (Jr., Johannesburg, South Africa) placed second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:19.40, a mark that ranks first in the MEAC, at the Harvard Invitational and followed with a personal-best 4:16.34 mile at Boston University the following day. 
 
Dillard (So., Silver springs, Md.) finished fifth overall in the high jump at the Bob Pollock Invitational, clearing a MEAC-best height of 2.08 meters. 

Other Top Performers 
  • Solomon Hammond (CSU) captured first place in both the 60 meters, clocking in at 6.70, and the 200 meters, finishing in 21.18. 
  • Emerson McKindra (HOW) posted a season-best 47.83 in the 400 meters at the Bob Pollock Invitational, finishing 26th overall and recording the second-fastest time in the MEAC. 
  • Caleb Mincey (MSU) claimed first place in the mile with a time of 4:14.90 at the Harvard Invitational and followed up with a personal-best 1:51.97 in the 800 meters at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic.
