NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 16, 2026 – Howard graduate student Taylor Ames-Alexander has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week.
North Carolina Central’s Kendal Daniels was named Rookie of the Week, while
Norfolk State’s Kailey Bryant was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Ames-Alexander (Gs., INF, Lancaster, S.C.) hit .429 with three home runs, nine RBIs, and five runs scored leading the Bison to a 3–1 record in the HBCU Invitational.
Daniels (Fr., RL/R, Pomona, Calif.) hit .375 over four games with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. She finished the week with a .400 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage.
Bryant (Jr., P/UTL, Moyock, N.C.) led the Spartans to a 2-0 week with a 2.10 ERA over 13.1 innings. She struck out seven batters, allowed just four earned runs, and recorded one complete game.
Other Top Performers
- Mianna Lopez Del Haro (DSU) went 3-for-3 with a double and added one putout and an assist against Manhattan.
- Elana Krupey (NCCU) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just one run in a win over Fort Valley State, and recorded five strikeouts over 7.1 innings on the week.
- Julianna Mejia (CSU) tallied a double and drove in two runs against Alabama A&M.
- Lola Meyer (UMES) posted a .417 batting average with five hits and one RBI at the HBCU Invitational.
- Bristyl Riddick (NSU) hit .556 with a home run, five RBIs, and three runs scored on the weekend.
- Brooklyn Lee-Scott (CSU) pitched a complete game in a win over Alcorn State, allowing two runs on six hits in 6.0 innings and striking out three batters.
- Skylar Skinner (UMES) totaled four runs scored and one RBI while adding four stolen bases on the week. She also recorded nine defensive chances without committing an error.
- Samantha Stevenson (NSU) pitched 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four batters.
- Tyler Suttles (NCCU) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored against Alcorn State.
