Cross Country Set to Host Annual Bison Invite

WASHINGTON (October 17, 2025) – The Howard University cross country program hosts its annual Bison Invite at Colmar Manor Community Park in Colmar Manor, Md. (3510 37th Ave, Colmar Manor, MD 20722).
 
The women's race starts at 10 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:45 a.m. The event is FREE to the public.
 
MEET PREVIEW
 
Both men and women will run a 5K race throughout the park with awards being presented to the top seven finishers of each gender.
 
Teams competing this year include, but not limited to: Howard; Bowie State University; University of the District of Columbia; Delaware State University; University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Goucher College.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Oct. 3, both squads competed in the annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University, where several Bison posted season bests.
 
The women finished in 39th place with sophomore Mira Martin (Columbus, Ohio) leading the way, registering a 21:40.30 time. The men finished in 40th place with rookie Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) leading the pack with a 25:34.50 mark (season-best) in the 8K race.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Nov. 1, the Bison will compete at the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Championships in Cary, N.C. The race starts with the women, beginning at 11 a.m., and the men's race at noon.
