ORANGEBURG, SC – Following a week off, the South Carolina State cross country teams will resume their schedule Saturday (Oct. 11) at the 18
th annual Sand Sharks Invitational, hosted by USC Beaufort at Hardeeville, SC.
In their last outing (Sept. 26), both teams had strong outings at the Winthrop Adidas Classic, finishing second behind the host Winthrop Eagles in the competition.
The Lady Bulldogs had a score of 61 and a time of 2:02.27 for second behind Winthrop, which finished with a score of 17 and a time of 1:39.28. The Coker women were a close third with a score of 66 and a time of 2:03.19.
In the men's division, the SC State men had a score of 47 in a time of 2:26.00 behind the Eagles with a score of 18 and a time of 2:18.51. Johnson and Wales was third with a score of 81 in a time of 2:36.57.
Sophomore Nia Singleton, who earlier established a personal record (PR), was the top finisher for the SC State women in the 5K with a sixth-place time of 20.45.2. Winthrop's Anna Conrad won the women's competition with a time of 18:48.3 and was trailed by three teammates as the Eagles had the top four finishers.
Following Singleton in the individual standings for SC State were Shania Joe, 14
th in a time of 24:53.5; Nevah Campbell, 15
th in a time of 24:58.2; Michelle Williams, 17
th in a time of 25:54.4; and Sydney Cooper 19
th in a time of 25:55.3.
Bulldog senior Andrew Latimer, who established a personal record (PR) earlier, was the top finisher for the SC State men with a fourth-place showing in a time of 27:40.2. The Eagles' Jason Krell won the men's competition with a time of 27:24.3. Trailing him for the Bulldogs were

Regan Kimtai, challenged Latimer to push himself and he responded.
"We asked Andrew to challenge himself early in the race and he did," Cooper said. "He led the first three miles. The rest of the guys ran well also. It was our first hilly course, and we also had rain, but I am pleased with the direction we are going. Coach Kimtai is helping us get the results we were looking for. The guys are really responding well to the training."

th in a time of 29:32.4; Brandon McMillen 11
th in a time of 29:48.4; Kemal Forbes 14
th in a time of 30:08.5 and Macarie N'TWA 18
th in a time of 30:36.4.
Following Saturday's meet, SC State will participate in the USC Upstate Invite at Spartanburg, SC Oct. 18 before heading to Cary, NC Nov. 1 for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships.
