RALEIGH, N.C., March 23, 2025 – The University of Alabama – Birmingham advanced to the 2025 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Bowling Championship match for the first time in program history after collecting a 2-0 win over No. 2 Maryland Eastern Shore in the consolation finals.
The No. 4 Blazers ran through the consolation bracket after losing to No. 5 Delaware State 2-0 (931-865 Trad. / 957-868 Baker) in their first game of the tournament. UAB defeated No. 8 Norfolk State 2-0 (815-678 Trad. / 857-723 Baker) in their first game of the consolation bracket to close out the first day of competition.
On day two, the Blazers defeated the No. 3 seeded Bears of Morgan State 2-0 (857-845 Trad. / 820-799 Baker) and toppled the DSU Hornets 2-0 (990-959 Trad. / 910-867 Baker) in a rematch of the opening game.
The Blazers came in riding the momentum of three 2-0 sweeps with only the 2024 MEAC Champions, Maryland Eastern Shore, standing between them and a trip to the MEAC Championship match against top-seeded North Carolina A&T State.
UAB controlled the traditional game picking up a 950-856 victory taking a1-0 lead behind a 233 performance from Jordan Shipp.
In the baker total round, UAB took a 10-pin lead after the first game, 175-165 and extended the advantage to 64 pins after a 224-170 win in game two. UMES closed the gap to 21 pins after winning the third game 187-144, however, UAB closed out the baker round with a pair of wins in games four (179-146) and five (190-179) to secure their spot in the MEAC Championship Match.
