Aggies Advance to Championship, Await UAB/UMES Winner

— No. 19 North Carolina A&T advanced to the championship match of the 2026 MEAC Bowling Championship following a dominant 2-0 victory over No. 2 seed UAB during day two action at Triad Lanes.

With the win, the Aggies will await the winner of Sunday morning’s consolation matchup between UAB and Maryland Eastern Shore.

North Carolina A&T secured the victory with a strong showing in traditional play, defeating UAB 1128-966, before closing out the match with a decisive 1016-885 win in Baker competition. Four Aggies recorded scores of 200 or better in traditional play, highlighted by Juliana Sams’ match-best 256.

UAB, which opened the tournament with wins over Coppin State and Howard, suffered its first loss of the championship. Savannah Schneider led the Blazers with a team-high 236.
In the elimination bracket, Morgan State extended its tournament run with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Howard in Match 9. The Bears narrowly claimed the traditional match, 864-853, before dropping the Baker game, 870-833. Morgan State regrouped in the best-of-seven Baker series, securing the match with a 4-2 finish. Johnaa Hill led the Bears with a 200 in traditional play.

Howard was eliminated from the tournament following the loss. The Bison opened competition with a win over Delaware State but fell to UAB in the second round. Janae Pough led Howard with a 206 performance against UAB.

Maryland Eastern Shore remained in contention with a 2-0 victory over Delaware State, eliminating the Hornets from the tournament. UMES posted a 1019-791 win in traditional play and followed with a 991-836 victory in Baker competition. Alliyah Friend led the Hawks with a 222.

The final match of the evening delivered a thrilling finish, as Morgan State and UMES battled for a spot in the consolation final. Morgan State claimed the traditional match, 845-834, while UMES responded with a 997-929 win in Baker play. UMES carried that momentum into the Baker best-of-seven series, winning 4-2 to advance.

The championship match will feature North Carolina A&T against the winner of the UAB/UMES consolation game. The consolation match is scheduled for 9 a.m., with the championship set for a 2 p.m. start. The title match will air live on ESPN+.
