NORFOLK, Va., June 29, 2023 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host its inaugural Men’s Empowerment Breakfast, in conjunction with MEAC Football Media Day, presented by Wells Fargo, on Friday, July 21 at Hilton Norfolk The Main [100 E. Main St., Norfolk, VA 23510].
The breakfast will be held from 9-11:05 a.m.
“We are always looking to create valuable and meaningful events for our community,” MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. “The Men's Empowerment Breakfast aligns with our initiatives to deliver vital opportunities to build positive social networks and form alliances that enhance the quality of life for men of all ages. We are honored to hold a gathering that allows men to gain diverse perspectives and discuss important issues affecting their daily lives.”
The Men’s Empowerment Breakfast, with support from Wells Fargo and Coca-Cola, will tackle such topics as Building a Championship Mindset Without Burnout; Developing Your Brand and Legacy; Managing Money; Eliminating Violence and Gun Control; and How to Coach the Next Generation.
MEAC Strategic Advisor Lynn Thompson will serve as host and moderator, and the panel will include Dewey Norwood, Senior Lead Diversity and Inclusion Consultant, Enterprise HBCU Strategy, External Engagement Diverse Segments, Representation and Inclusion at Wells Fargo; Kyle Adams, Deputy Director of Athletics at Delaware State University; Dr. Ben Fitzgerald, III, board chair for Gateway Services; and leadership professional Will Baggett.
Former Howard University and NFL standout Antoine Bethea will be the keynote speaker. The MEAC Hall of Famer (2015) was a three-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champion with the Indianapolis Colts and he was named Black College Football Hall of Fame Pro Player of the Year in 2017.
Individual seats for the breakfast are $75, and tables are on sale for $600. Attendees are also able to remain as guests for the Football Media Day show, live streamed on ESPN+ beginning at Noon.

nd year of intercollegiate competition with the 2022-23 academic school year.
