Shoutcaster Dara to Provide Commentary for MEAC Esports Championship

NORFOLK, Va., March 2, 2023 – Professional esports commentator – or shoutcaster – Dara M. Gar will be on-hand during the MEAC Esports Championship at the Norfolk Scope Arena on Wednesday and Thursday, March 8-9, in conjunction with the 2023 MEAC Basketball Tournament.
 
Gar will shoutcast the conference’s Smash Bros. semifinals and finals, beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 on the MEAC Esports Twitch page.
 
With the tag Daramgar, Gar is a professional esports commentator who was nominated for thegameHERS Shoutcaster of the Year award. Gar has a love for fighting game theory and engine quirks like none other.
 
The MEAC Esports Championship will be in-person for the first time on March 8-9, the first two days of the MEAC Basketball Tournament at the Norfolk Scope Arena. The Smash Bros. tournament will run from 1-8 p.m. on March 8, with a pool of $1,400 in prize money on the line.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is in its 52nd year of intercollegiate competition with the 2022-23 academic school year. Located in Norfolk, Va., the MEAC is made up of eight outstanding historically black institutions across the Atlantic coastline: Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University.
