North Carolina A&T State Wins MEAC Regular-Season Title
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships keep flowing into North Carolina A&T's bowling program.
The Aggies captured the MEAC regular-season crown on Sunday at MEAC Meet #2 held at Triad Lanes by going 3-0 Sunday and 7-1 overall for the weekend, with all eight matches played under traditional format. The Aggies finish conference play with a 15-1 record, three games ahead of Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State, who finished in a second-place tie at 12-4.
A&T, the sixth-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll and two-time defending MEAC tournament champions, has had the best regular-season record conference record the past two seasons. The Aggies will go for a third straight conference tournament championship, March 24-26, at Pinboy's at the Beach in Virginia Beach, Va.
On Saturday, the Aggies' Melanie Katen bowled the program's first-ever 300 game.

Maryland Eastern Shore Ends Up Second in MEAC Standings
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Maryland Eastern Shore had a tough day at the MEAC No. 2 meet on Sunday, finishing the day 1-3 and the event with a 4-4 mark.
The Hawks (58-33, 10-6 MEAC) did pick up their lone victory against National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) No. 16 Delaware State by a score of 998-950. They lost decisions to UAB (1042-960), Monmouth University (932-855) and No. 6 and host North Carolina A&T State.
Senior Brooke Roberts averaged 215.8 in the five games, including the bye. She had high games of 246 and 241 against Howard and Morgan State, respectively.

Monmouth Strong at Second MEAC Meet
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Monmouth University bowling team added six wins, including two over nationally ranked opponents, to its resume after competing at the second MEAC meet of the 2022-23 season this past weekend in Greensboro, NC.
Out of nine teams, the Hawks, who received votes in the NTCA's latest Top 25 poll, finished third with a 6-2 record. Across 45 traditional games, Monmouth posted an average pinfall per game of 187.0 pins.
The Hawks were led by junior Jenna Lehrer, who finished with an average of 202.11 pins per game with five 200+ games. Lehrer placed fifth individually at the meet, while graduate senior Skylar Smith placed 11th with a 190 average and two 200+ games. Siyah Sweeny was strong as well, averaging 192 pins per game and notching three 200+ outings.

Morgan State Finishes Fifth at MEAC #2
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Morgan State Lady Bears finished tied for fifth place with the University of Alabama-Birmingham in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season composite standings after Sunday's round of traditional play.
Morgan ended up 2-2 on the day, which moved their conference match record to 8-8.
Cheyenne Washington averaged 204.75 pins, with Johnna Hill at 199.14, La'Monique Berrios 191.8, Carrington Beaman 190.78, Aliya Adams 190.0, Natalia Miranda Vega 182.29 and Naomi Smith 163.5.

UAB Finishes Sixth at MEAC #2
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The UAB bowling team finished MEAC #2 in the sixth seed with a win-loss record of 4-4. Three Blazers placed in the top 15 of individual standings.
UAB played a total of nine traditional matches that counted towards the overall record and one match against a BYE that just counted for total pinfalls.
Keagan Trexler placed sixth overall in individual standings after bowling four 200-plus games, with a highest of 239. Madelynn Oliva (12) bowled three 200-plus games (249) and Jamie Krasnigor (13) bowled four games 200-plus games (208).

Coppin State Picks Up Two Wins at MEAC #2
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Coppin State's bowling team finished the weekend with a 2-7 record at MEAC Meet #2 held at Triad Lanes. This finish granted the Eagles the seventh seed going into MEAC Championships on March 24-26.
The Eagles were winless on day one before defeating Howard, 900-826 and mounting a comeback win against Norfolk State, 898-828 in the final match of the tournament.
On day one, TaVera Johnso
n led the team with 726 total pins over four games followed by Elizabeth Stokley with 666 pins. For the tournament, Johnson averaged 176.14 over her seven games with a team-high game of 224 against Morgan State.
