NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State student-athletes showed tremendous civic participation on Tuesday, dedicating their time to volunteering on Election Day.
The Spartans showed up in droves to aid in the civic process on Monday, starting the morning by making phone calls to encourage residents to get out and vote before polls close.
By the afternoon, the student-athletes spread out across a multitude of voting locations across Norfolk and Virginia Beach, taking on a variety of roles to assist in the election process.
Norfolk State head football coach Dawson Odums praised the student-athletes' efforts during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.
"Some are at the voting precincts, some are here calling making phone calls," Odums said. "It's just great to see that they are taking time out of their day to recognize and share how important voting is."
