NORFOLK, Va., May 2, 2022—Coppin State sophomore Jordan Hamberg was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Kyle Cincinnati was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State redshirt sophomore Rashad Ruff earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Hamberg (6-0, So., P/OF, South Plainfield, N.J.) batted .529 (9-for-17) with five RBIs, three runs scored, two home runs and a double in five games this past week. He had a pair of three-hit games against Maryland Eastern Shore, including a 3-for-3 effort with a home run in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader and a 3-for-4 day with another homer and two RBIs on Sunday. Sunday’s contest also saw Hamberg toss six strong innings on the mound, striking out 12 and scattering five hits and two runs.
Cincinnati (5-10, Fr., C, Sinking Spring, Pa.) hit .455 (5-for-11) in three games against Coppin State this past weekend, scoring twice and hitting a pair of doubles. His best game came on Friday, when he went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored. He hit safely in all three games, and he threw out a pair of runners on the basepaths without giving up a stolen base.
Ruff (5-11, r-So., P, Moreno Valley, Calif.) picked up a pair of wins this past weekend in the series against Maryland Eastern Shore, combining for 10 strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. He only allowed one hit and one run in those two appearances, and on Sunday, he struck out six in 3.0 innings of work as he helped the Eagles strike out a program-best 18 batters in that game.

Marcos Herrand (Coppin State) allowed one run in seven innings, striking out four against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Peter Carrea (Delaware State) struck out five in a complete-game win over Norfolk State on Friday.
Trey Paige (Delaware State) went 2-for-4 with six RBIs, including a grand slam, in Sunday’s contest against Norfolk State.
Dillon Oxyer (Maryland Eastern Shore) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against Coppin State and hit four doubles over the weekend.
Blake Rebstock (Maryland Eastern Shore) threw 5.1 innings of relief to get the win over Coppin State on Saturday.
Zac Capps (Norfolk State) allowed just three hits and two runs in five innings against Delaware State to pick up his second win of the season.
Raphy Rodriguez (Norfolk State) had a triple and a home run in the series against Delaware State, driving in three runs in the four games.
