Baseball Receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for Eighth-Straight Season

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the eighth-straight year, Coppin State's baseball team received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday.
 
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2024-25 academic year.  This year, 440 college programs and nearly 300 high school programs were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement.
 
Coppin State finished 15-34 overall and 13-17 in the Northeast Conference this season.  The Eagles went a perfect 9-0 against former MEAC baseball members Delaware State, Maryland Eastern Shore and Norfolk State.
 
Since the 2018 season, the first of Coppin's eight-straight Team Academic Excellence Awards, the Eagles have won 130 games which included the Covid-shortened 2020 season. The Eagles had four seasons with at least 20 victories while winning a MEAC Regular Season Championship in 2018 and advancing to its first-ever NCAA Regional in 2022 after winning the MEAC Title.
