NORFOLK, Va. --
Norfolk State rode the pitching of Zac Capps and Jackson Sanchez to a 4-3 win in the first game before Delaware State rallied to win game two 12-10 to earn a split of the teams' doubleheader Saturday at Marty L. Miller Field.

In game one, Capps (2-5) allowed just three hits and two runs while striking out five in five innings pitched. Sanchez struck out four in two innings of relief to earn the save.

Delaware State led 12-3 late in the second game, before the Spartans pushed across seven runs in the seventh inning to make it a two-run game. C.J. Loper, the MEAC leader in saves this season, came on at that point with the bases loaded and shut down the rally.

Loper has eight saves in 2022.
