MEAC Announces Weekly Baseball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., April 25, 2022Coppin State senior Marcos Castillo was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Kyle Cincinnati was named Rookie of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore senior Cameron Bratton earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Castillo (6-1, Sr., OF, Round Rock, Texas) hit .438 (7-for-16) with six RBIs and a pair of runs scored in a four-game series against Delaware State. He had three multi-hit games for the week, including a 3-for-4 effort with two RBIs and two stolen bases in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. He also hit a home run on Sunday, and for the week, Castillo boasted a .526 on-base percentage and stole five bases.
 
Cincinnati (5-10, Fr., C, Sinking Spring, Pa.) scored four runs in Sunday’s contest against Norfolk State, recording a hit and two walks to reach base three times. He was also strong behind the plate for the week, throwing out two would-be base stealers and catching Cameron Bratton’s complete-game shutout on Friday.
 
Bratton (5-11, Sr., P, Cumberland, Md.) tossed a complete game shutout on Friday against Norfolk State, scattering six hits and walking just one and striking out a career-high eight batters. He needed just 99 pitches to go through the 4-0 win.
 
Other Top Performers
Marcos Herrand (Coppin State) allowed just two runs and four hits, while striking out four, in four innings pitched against Delaware State.
 
Matt Perkins (Coppin State) scattered six hits and gave up just one run in six innings of work against Delaware State.
 
Krew Bouldin (Delaware State) was 5-for-12 at the plate with two doubles and five RBIs this past week, while also drawing four walks.
 
Ryan Howe (Maryland Eastern Shore) had a pair of two-hit games against Norfolk State, including a 3-for-4 effort with a double and an RBI in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
 
Jacob Council (Norfolk State) was 5-for-6 on Sunday against Maryland Eastern Shore with three RBIs.
