Four Aggie Bowlers Earn NTCA All-Region Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Wednesday, three North Carolina A&T State bowlers made return visits to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Northeast Region team. The Aggies also had one new face on the team.

Sophomore Melanie Katen earned first-team all-region honors for the second straight season. This season, Junior Lauren Tomaszewski is a first-team member after earning an honorable mention nod a season ago.

This season, senior Ericka Quesada is a first-teamer after being named to the second team in 2021. In addition, senior Pamela Warr is making her first appearance on any all-region squad, earning second-team accolades in 2022.

"What a year of growth for this group," head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney said. "I am so proud of the hard work they have all put in. This is evidence that it pays off. In a sport that often celebrates only the team achievement, it is awesome to see our players recognized for all they did this season.

Katen's accomplishments keep piling up. Last month she earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Year honors and first-team All-MEAC accolades. In addition to her all-region honor as a freshman, she also secured NTCA Third Team All-American recognition. She also found herself on the NTCA All-Freshman team.

In 2021-22, Katen knocked down more than 8,000 pins during the regular season and was a staple at the top of the Aggie lineup.

On the other end of that lineup was Tomaszewski, who thrived in the anchor position all season. She earned MEAC Tournament Outstanding Performer honors and held a strike percentage of 54.5. In January,

Tomaszewski also claimed the tournament win at the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas.

Quesada served as the setup for Tomaszewski in the four-hole of A&T's lineup. She knocked down more than 7,000 pins during the regular season and boasted the team's highest single-match score of 277 during the 2021-22 campaign. In addition, Quesada won the Vernell Stallings Invitational hosted by A&T at Triad Lanes in February.

A year ago, she earned third-team NTCA All-American honors, and she is a three-time All-MEAC performer.

Warr participated in 36 matches during the regular season and knocked down more than 7,000 pins. Her season got off to a hot start at the James Brown Invitational back in the fall, where she finished sixth, her best placement of the season.

Warr tallied 16 200-plus scoring games, including a 251 en route to her second-team nomination. She earned Second Team All-MEAC honors this season.
