NORFOLK, Va., April 13, 2022--Howard University's esports program picked up where it left off in the fall this past week, winning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) spring championships in three different games.
The Bison won titles in
Halo Infinite,
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and
Call of Duty: Cold War.
These three titles come in addition to the three Howard won in the fall; the Bison were the inaugural MEAC champions in
Call of Duty and
Rocket League, while Bison user Spiras won the MEAC title in
Super Smash Bros.
Call of Duty: Cold War
After Howard went undefeated in the regular season -- a perfect 5-0 to finish two games clear of second-place Morgan State -- the Bison and Bears were joined by Coppin State and Norfolk State in a four-team postseason tournament that took place on Thursday, April 7. Howard took care of Coppin State 1-0 in the semifinal round, while the Bears handled the Spartans 3-0.
In the final, a rematch from the fall, Howard defeated Morgan State 3-0.
With the Bison claiming their second straight MEAC crown in
Call of Duty, Morgan State finished the spring as the runner-up, with Norfolk State coming in third place.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Howard's vexel capped off a perfect spring -- which saw them go 11-0 -- by dominating the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed.
In fact, vexel did not lose a game until they reached the championship match on Saturday, April 9, where they faced off against Morgan State's MicroSSB. Even then, vexel came away with the 3-1 victory to take the title, while MicroSSB was the runner-up and Howard's Yango, who went 8-1 on the season, came in third.
vexel opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over teammate Esquiire, before defeating Sylem 2-0. From there, vexel faced MicroSSB twice, winning 3-0 in the semifinal before taking the championship match in four.

Despite Morgan State going a perfect 2-0 in the regular season, Howard came away with the championship with a pair of postseason wins on Wednesday, April 6.
The Bison opened with a 1-0 victory over Norfolk State user T-bags, before claiming a 1-0 victory over the Bears.
