NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 21, 2022—Norfolk State redshirt junior outfielder Dionte Brown was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Alex McCoy was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State sophomore Tyler Nichol earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Brown (5-7, Jr., OF, Smithfield, Va.) batted .538 (7-for-13) in a three-game series against Marist to open the season, scoring three runs and driving in a pair. He had four extra-base hits for the weekend, including three triples, and he stole two bases. He had at least two hits in each game of the series, including a 3-for-4 effort with two triples on Saturday.
McCoy (6-6, Fr., 1B, Baltimore, Md.) scored four runs for the Hawks in a three-game set against Longwood. He stole his first collegiate base on Sunday, the same day in which he drew three walks and scored all four of his runs.
Nichol (5-9, So., P, Belle Chasse, La.) scattered five hits and struck out four batters in 4.2 innings of work against California Baptist, giving up just two runs.

Landen Argabright (Coppin State) doubled off the wall in his first collegiate at-bat against California Baptist.
Brian Nicolas (Coppin State) was 5-for-11 (.455) in the series against California Baptist, hitting a double and a home run.
Evan Nibblett (Maryland Eastern Shore) struck out three in five innings of work against Longwood.
