MEAC to Host Women in Athletics Workshop, Celebrating Title IX 50th Anniversary & Women’s History Month

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 16, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Ahtletic Conference (MEAC) will host the Women in Athletics Workshop on Tuesday, March 1 to celebrate Women’s History Month and the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
 
The virtual event, themed Step In to Your Power, will be held over Zoom and start at 12 p.m.
 
“Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX and celebrating Women’s History Month isn’t just about looking at the past,” MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. “It’s also about empowering women and reminding them professional and personal success doesn’t have to come at the expense of who they are. Stepping in to your power extends beyond athletics, and this workshop is centered on that.”
 
Katreshia Louis-Verrett, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at UAB, will serve as moderator, and panelists will include DeeDee Merritt, Director, Leadership Development at the NCAA; Angela Woods, Senior Director, Corporate Citizenship at ESPN; and Michelle Ellis-Young, CEO of YWCA South Hampton Roads.
