North Carolina A&T State Wins James Brown Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The North Carolina A&T State bowling team picked up its second tournament victory of the season, winning the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State over the weekend.
A&T earned the No. 1 seed in bracket play after bowling a tournament-high 10,319 pins through the first two days of competition. They faced No. 2 Delaware State in Round 1. The Aggies dropped the first game, 216-205, to fall behind 1-0. The teams tied the second game at 162 before A&T won four-straight, bowling a match-high 256 in the sixth game to claim victory.
The win earned the ladies an automatic bid to the finals, but they faced Mount Aloysius College in the second round with no playoff implications. The Aggies made quick work the Mounties, 4-0.
On Saturday, seniorPamela Warr earned first-team all-tournament accolades after finishing in sixth place individually. Warr knocked down 1,069 pins in five matches for a 213.8 average to make her first career all-tournament selection. Her previous best finish was ninth-place at Sam Houston State's Track Kat Klash back in November.

Delaware State Finishes Second in James Brown Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Delaware State University bowling team finished 2nd at the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University this past weekend.
The Hornets posted an 8-2 record during Friday and Saturday's matches, starting strong with back-to-back wins over Kutztown and Mount Saint Mary's.
Individually, Delaware State was led by the freshman phenom Sydney Reardon, who tallied her first top-five placement and her second top-10 finish during her rookie campaign. Reardon took fourth overall as she knocked down 1,077 pins on the weekend for an average of 215.40 per game. Her highest came in game one, when she threw a 266.
Reardon was also named to the James Brown Invitational All-Tournament Team for her performance.

Morgan State Finishes Fourth in James Brown Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The 7th annual James Brown Invitational came to an end on Sunday afternoon at the AMF Towson Lanes with the Morgan State Lady Bears finishing in fourth out of the 14-team field. The Lady Bears, who entered championship Sunday in sixth-place, jumped two spots after going 2-1 in the Bracket Round Best of 7 Baker match play.
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foes North Carolina A&T State and Delaware State placed first and second, respectively. Duquesne, Morgan State and Mount St. Mary's rounded out the remaining top five.

UAB Fourth in Flyer Classic, Hurley MVP
LOCKPORT, Ill. -- The UAB bowling team placed fourth in its second tournament of the 2022 spring season at the Flyer Classic, hosted by Lewis University. Junior Katie Hurley received Tournament MVP honors after placing first overall individually.
Hurley led the way with a first-place finish with a total pinfall of 1,096, averaging 219.20 over the five games on her way to MVP honors. Jamie Jrasnigor (960 total pinfall, 192 average, 13th overall), Jillian Hulsey (876 total pinfall, 175.2 average, 34th overall), Shauna Rodgers (819 total pinfall, 163.8 average, 40th overall) and Elise London (800 total pinfall, 160 average, 43rd overall) rounded out the Blazers' scoring.

Maryland Eastern Shore Finishes Seventh in James Brown Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finished up bracket play at the James Brown Invitational Sunday in seventh place after going 1-2 on the event's final day.
The Hawks (47-39, 3-5 MEAC) dropped morning matches to host and National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) No. 18 Morgan State (0-4) and Saint Francis University (2-4) before picking up a 4-1 win against Coppin State in the day's finale.
On Saturday, The Shore finished 3-2 in Traditional play, while senior brooke roberts finished second overall at the event earning All-Tournament honors with a five-game average of 218.

Coppin State Finishes Eighth at James Brown Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Coppin State's bowling team finished eighth of 14 teams at the James Brown Invitational, held at AMF Towson Lanes this past weekend. The Eagles went 5-5 over the first two days, recording 8,742 total pins for a 174.8 average per game.
Tavera Johnson and Kaylah Castillo led the way for Coppin individually, finishing 27
th and 28
th overall with averages of 188.40 and 188.20, respectively. Each had a pair of games where they rolled over a 200.
Logan Brown accumulated an 167.60 average over five traditional matches, while Jalyne Myers tallied a 163.60.
