NORFOLK, Va. -- Ty Hanchey matched his career high with three hits, and James Deloatch pitched six scoreless innings as Norfolk State opened its final regular-season series with a 6-0 win over Delaware State on Thursday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field.
The win helped secure first place in the MEAC Northern Division for the Spartans (20-25, 16-9 MEAC), their fifth time achieving the feat in the last six full seasons.
Hanchey was 3-for-4 and was one of three Spartans who had more than one hit.

North Carolina A&T State 6, Coppin State 5
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina A&T State kept its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship hopes alive with a dramatic 6-5 come-from-behind win over Coppin State in baseball action inside War Memorial Stadium on Thursday.
A&T improved to 19-32 overall and 14-15 in league action.
Junior Justin Rodriguez claimed hero honors for the Aggies in the home ninth. He stepped into the batter's box with the bases loaded and sliced a single through the right side to score sophomore Alex Reyna from third.
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

North Carolina Central 10, Florida A&M 4
DURHAM, N.C. -- North Carolina Central hit three home runs on Thursday evening in Durham Athletic Park en route to a 10-4 win over Florida A&M in the opener of the four-game series between the two teams to wrap up the regular season.
The Eagles improved to 22-18 overall, 14-11 in MEAC play, while the Rattlers fell to 21-29, 15-10.
Tristan Shea hit a three-run shot for the Eagles in the third inning, and Cameron Norgren hit a three-run bomb of his own in the sixth. Kokko Figueiredo added a solo homer in the fifth.
Austin Vernon struck out 13 in seven innings of five-hit ball.
