NORFOLK, Va. --
Left handed pitchers James Deloatch and Dalton Barham both tossed complete games and combined for 21 strikeouts to spark Norfolk State to a 6-2, 3-2 doubleheader sweep of Coppin State on Saturday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field.

Deloatch (4-2) scattered six hits and two runs while fanning a career-high 11 batters to lead the Spartans (14-20, 10-5 MEAC) to the game one victory. Barham (2-1) was just as good in the nightcap, recording his first career complete game while striking out a career-high 10 batters to lead the Spartans to their fifth win in a row.

Deloatch threw his second complete game of the season to get the afternoon started. The first also came against Coppin State, back on March 26, when he set his previous career high with nine punchouts.

DOVER, Del. --
The North Carolina Central baseball program got a strong start from Shawn Runey in the first game of the day for a 9-3 victory, but Delaware State held off a late rally from the Eagles in the second contest to win 3-2, and split the doubleheader on Saturday at Soldier Field.

NCCU (13-13, 5-6 MEAC) was kept off the board in the first game until the third frame, when Justin Bowersrought home a run on a grounder, and that started a string of nine unanswered runs.

The Eagles then hit two home runs in back-to-back innings in the fourth and fifth that was started by a solo homer from Luis DeLeon, followed by a two-run blast by Jacob Raby. NCCU then put the game out of reach with five runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead, 9-0.
