NORFOLK, Va., March 22, 2021Coppin State redshirt freshman Mike Dorcean was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Coppin State’s Darren Hagan was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State redshirt senior Aaron Rea and Florida A&M junior Kelyn Fox shared Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Dorcean (5-11, r-Fr., C, Bellerose, N.Y.) batted .625 for the week, going a combined 5-for-8 at the plate. He scored six times and drove in four runs, hitting a pair of doubles and a home run. For the week, Dorcean slugged 1.250 and had a .727 on-base percentage. He opened the Delaware State series with a 3-for-4 game, driving in four, hitting two doubles and going deep.
 
Hagan (5-11, Fr., OF, Chichester, Pa.) was a combined 5-for-13 (.385) at the plate this past week, scoring six runs and driving in five more. He had a pair of stolen bases and a triple. He had a pair of two-hit games in a four-game set against Delaware State and he drove in four runs in the first game on Sunday’s doubleheader – the game in which he hit that triple.
 
Rea (6-2, r-Sr., RHP, Altamonte Springs, Fla.) broke Coppin State’s career strikeouts record on Saturday against Delaware State, fanning nine in a complete-game effort in which he scattered five hits and gave up just two earned runs. Rea, who struck out the side in the sixth inning to break the record, now has 230 strikeouts in his career.
 
Fox (6-0, Jr., LHP, Bartow, Fla.) went the distance in a 3-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, giving up just one run, scattering seven hits and striking out five to pick up his second win of the season.

Zach Dale (Delaware State) picked up the win in relief in the first game against Coppin State on Sunday.
 
Brady Daniels (Delaware State) was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI on Sunday against Coppin State.
 
John Weglarz (Delaware State) had a home run, two doubles and seven RBIs in a four-game set against Coppin State.
 
Joseph Pierini (Florida A&M) was 4-for-13 with four runs scored in a four-game series against Florida Gulf Coast.
 
Jared Weber (Florida A&M) was 6-for-12 with a double and four runs scored in the series against Florida Gulf Coast.
 
Evan Gates (North Carolina A&T State) tossed 7.2 innings of relief work over the weekend, combining for 14 strikeouts in two appearances.
 
Trevor Sheehan (North Carolina A&T State) had a pair of two-hit games in a four-game set against North Carolina Central, driving in a pair and scoring twice over the weekend.
 
Patrick Doran (North Carolina Central) had at least one hit in each of the Eagles’ four games against North Carolina A&T State this past weekend, driving in three and homering in the series opener.
 
Chet Sikes (North Carolina Central) had two two-hit games against the Aggies, including a pair of doubles.
 
Austin Vernon (North Carolina Central) struck out 11 in six innings of work against North Carolina A&T State.
 
Danny Hosley (Norfolk State) went the distance in a 4-2 win over Morehead State, striking out seven and giving up just two runs.
