DOVER, Del., Oct. 11, 2021 -- Delaware State University Director of Athletics Alecia Shields-Gadson has announced the appointment of Christina Epps-Chiazor (Cry-zor) as the department's new Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance & Student-Athlete Services.
She will also serve as the athletics department's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).
Epps-Chiazor joined the Delaware State Academic Services for Student-Athletes unit in 2019 as the Athletic Academic Eligibility/Certification Specialist.
In her role as Asst. AD for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services, she will manage day- to-day compliance and oversee support services for DSU student-athletes academically, athletically and personally.
Epps-Chiazor served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Academics and Compliance while at Coppin State University from 2016 to 2019. Her responsibilities included legislation interpretations, analyzing and processing legislative relief waivers, as well as providing rules education to coaches and staff. In addition, she was responsible for overseeing the academic advising unit while serving as a liaison to campus academic affairs.
Prior to her stint at Coppin, Epps-Chiazor pursued a professional career in track & field. Her career was highlighted by competing for Team USA in the Olympic Games.
Epps-Chiazor attended Coppin State University, graduating with honors in 2013 with a B.S. in Psychology.
While at Coppin State she was a four-year member of both the volleyball and track and field teams.
She was honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Woman of Year and NCAA Top 30 Woman of the Year, as well as many other accolades as a student-athlete for the Eagles.
Epps-Chiazor will obtain her master's degree in Sports Administration from Delaware State University in December of 2021.
