NORFOLK, Va., Sept.. 18, 2020 – As the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) celebrates its 50th anniversary with the 2020-21 academic year, the conference office has now unveiled its list of the conference’s 50 Greatest Moments.
The list, presented in chronological order, is divided between the first 25 years (1970-95) and the last 25 years (1996-present). The list was voted on by a panel comprised of the MEAC 50th Anniversary Committee, as well as sports information directors from the conference’s current member institutions.
Items were originally submitted for consideration by current and former instititutions’ sports information directors.
In the coming weeks, the MEAC will further highlight many of these moments, points in history where the MEAC, its member institutions or its outstanding student-athletes made history or performed admirablty on the national or international stage.
Where appropriate, moments will also be highlighted on the date on which they occurred.
About the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) celebrates its 50th year of intercollegiate competition with the 2020-21 academic school year. Located in Norfolk, Va., the MEAC is made up of 11 outstanding historically black institutions across the Atlantic coastline: Bethune-Cookman University, Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University.
