NCCU Student-Athletes Earn 3.06 Cumulative GPA

DURHAM, N.C. – At the conclusion of the spring 2020 semester, North Carolina Central University student-athletes now boast a 3.06 cumulative grade point average.
 
Thirty-five NCCU student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2020 semester, while 182 Eagles (59 percent) registered a semester GPA of 3.0 or better.
 
"Our student-athletes continue to show us how resilient and determined they are to achieve their academic goals," NCCU Director of Athletics Dr. Ingrid Wicker McCree said. "I am so proud of their accomplishments this semester, particularly during these critical times in our country.
 
"I am appreciative of our Student-Athlete Academic Support Services team, led by Kwadjo Steele, as they worked around the clock to ensure our student-athletes had all of the tools and resources needed as they transitioned from campus to virtual learning," McCree added. "Congratulations to our student-athletes!"
 
Out of more than 300 student-athletes representing the NCCU Department of Athletics, 169 (55 percent) have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. In addition, 10 NCCU teams have reached the 3.0 cumulative GPA standard, headlined by women's tennis (3.76), men's tennis (3.65), softball (3.39) and women's volleyball (3.38).
 
Ten student-athletes have achieved an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA.
