General 6/5/2020 4:30:00 PM Statement from NCCU Athletics Director: #BlackLivesMatter Statement from North Carolina Central University Director of Athletics Dr. Ingrid Wicker McCree: "After many days of watching, reading and listening to the outrage of our country and the ongoing perpetuation of violence on people of color, and reflecting as a mother of a Black son and Black daughters, wife to a Black man, as a Black female athletics director, and as a person responsible for shaping and molding the lives of our student-athletes, my thoughts and feelings will not be enough in this battle against systemic racism. I COMMIT TO INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP TO EFFECT CHANGE. The North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics stands in solidarity in the fight for justice, equality and peace. As Eagles, we have a long history of being on the front lines for educating and advocating for people of color, our marginalized communities and the City of Durham. We will utilize our collective voices to peacefully promote love and unity, while mourning and healing one another through these times of unrest and loss. As a family, we stand together as student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and support staff from all walks of life in the fight against injustice to galvanize the #BlackLivesMatter movement."
