Former MEAC Intern Williamson Hired by Los Angeles Rams

NORFOLK, Va., March 31, 2020—Jaylian Williamson, who served as a Compliance and Championships Intern with the conference office, has been hired by the National Football League’s (NFL) Los Angeles Rams.

Williamson will serve as the Rams’ Player Engagement Fellow.

“We are excited for Jaylian,” MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas said.  “One of the goals of our internship program is to provide the interns real-work experience and improve their skillset so they will be more attractive to the workforce. Jaylian continues a long line of interns who have moved on to gain meaningful employment. We wish him well.”

A former quarterback at Hampton University, Williamson’s new role will see him assist with programs that support rookies’ transition mentally, physically and financially as they adjust to life in the NFL; provide resources and programs for current athletes to set them up for success on and off the field; and focus on the personal and professional growth of NFL players and their families during their playing career and life beyond the football field.

Williamson said he’s grateful for the opportunity to intern at the MEAC office and eager to launch this new career move with the Rams.

“Athletics has the power to change people’s lives,” Williamson said. “The experience of interning with the MEAC has provided me with an opportunity to work in athletics and be able to open the door for opportunities like the one I now have with the Los Angeles Rams. As a growing professional, I will take the same work ethic and mindset and continue to progress and develop my career within sports while continuing to inspire others along the way.”
