B-CU's Wilkes Signs Contract with Independent Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind.--Former Bethune-Cookman reliever and infielder Brandon Wilkes has signed a professional contract with the Evansville Otters of the Independent Frontier League.

In his redshirt senior season, Wilkes returned well from a prior injury. From Holly Hill, Fla., the two-way player served as B-CU's closer and had five saves. He led the team with a 2.04 ERA, .202 opponent batting average, and 11.72 strikeouts per game. He registered 46 strikeouts to 11 walks in 16 appearances, totaling 35 innings.

Offensively, Wilkes carried a .298 average with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 28 RBIs. He was perfect in seven stolen base attempts.
