NORFOLK, Va., May 6, 2019Delaware State junior Jared Gillis was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Florida A&M’s Jared Weber earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M junior Kyle Coleman was named Pitcher of the Week.
 
Gillis (6-1, 195, Jr., Middletown, Del.) was 7-for-13 (.538) at the plate this past week in helping Delaware State complete a three-game sweep of Coppin State. He drove in five runs and scored five more for the week, and he also hit a double and a home run while stealing a base. Gillis was 4-for-4 with two RBIs in the finale on Sunday, and for the week, he had a .571 on-base percentage and slugged .846.
 
Webb (6-3, 180, Fr., Wakulla, Fla.) hit .364 (4-for-11) this past week as the Rattlers swept North Carolina Central, driving in four and scoring twice. He walked three times and stole three bases, boasting a .500 on-base percentage. He went 2-for-4 in the last two games of the series, and on Saturday, he had two RBIs and a double.
 
Coleman (6-7, 15, Jr., St. Cloud, Fla.) threw a complete-game shutout against North Carolina Central on Friday, giving up just two hits in nine innings of work and striking out eight to tie a season high in picking up his third win of the season.

Darnell Maisonet (DSU) struck out seven in 8.1 innings of five-hit, two-run ball against Coppin State.
 
Robert Shorts (DSU) tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief against Coppin State, giving up just one hit and striking out three.
 
Octavien Moyer (FAMU) was 2-for-4 in the second game against North Carolina Central and for the week, he scored seven times and had a .533 on-base percentage.
 
Tim Luth (NCAT) gave up just one run in 7.2 innings pitched against Savannah State.
 
Camden Williamson (NCAT) went 3-for-5 in the second game against Savannah State and scored three times in the series.
 
Carter Williams (NCCU) was 3-for-4 in the finale against Florida A&M with two RBIs and two runs scored.
 
Jonathan Mahoney (NSU) struck out six in 6.2 innings pitched against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Korey Singh (NSU) was 6-for-14 (.429) with a double, home run and four RBIs in a three-game sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Jalen Atterbury (SSU) went 2-for-4 in every game of a three-game series against North Carolina A&T State.
 
Caleb Hill (SSU) gave up just one run and two hits in a complete-game win over North Carolina A&T State.
