Baseball 5/22/2019 3:28:00 PM B-CU's Maldonado Selected To Team Puerto Rico DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman pitcher Anthony Maldonado has been pre-selected for the Puerto Rican Baseball National Team to participate in the Pan-American games held in Lima, Peru. Maldonado was recently named Second Team All-MEAC and tied for the league lead with 97 strikeouts. He went 4-5 with a team-best 81.1 innings in 13 starts and two complete games. His 10.73 strikeouts per-game led BCU starters. The junior from West Palm Beach, Fla., owned a 3.76 ERA and .207 opponents' average. Maldonado earned his third postseason All-MEAC award. He was also named to the pre-qualified tournament in China Tapei. The Pan-Am games will be held from July to August, and the pre-qualified tournament in November, with the participation of the top 10 teams in the world.
