On Monday, The New York Times published an article, written by Billy Witz, entitled "At Black Colleges, the Baseball Increasingly Isn't."

The article, in which Bethune-Cookman head baseball coach Jonathan Hernandez, Coppin State head coach Sherman Reed and several student-athletes are interviewed, looks at the effect of decreasing African-American participation in baseball on HBCUs.

Bethune-Cookman Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Lynn W. Thompson is also interviewed.
