- The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the second on a RBI groundout by Marcos Castillo after Nazier McIlwain and Carlos Alviarez recorded back-to-back singles to start the inning.
- That would be all of the runs that Rivera Ozuna would need as the senior struck out four batters over the next two innings.
- CSU scored three runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Corey Treyes, a sac bunt by Conner Walker and an RBI single by Matt Day.
- Rivera Ozuna fanned another two Spartans in the fourth before Treyes singled home another run in the fifth to make it a 5-0 game.
- After fanning the leadoff batter in the seventh, Rivera Ozuna was replaced by Branden Redfern, who got out of the inning unscathed despite a walk. Redfern struck out two batters in the eighth before Treyes shut the door on the hosts in the ninth.
